The welcome
A High Street pub that never stopped being a pub
The White Lion sits proudly in the middle of Baldock High Street and has been here since at least 1839, when the first publican, John Little, was recorded. Bursting with character inside, with a fireplace dated 1605 and low beams that have seen a great deal.
Come in for a pint after work, bring the dog on a walk through town, take a table in the garden with a Thai curry, or fill a corner with friends on quiz night. The same welcome either way.
- Real ale and Baldock Pride
- Ales, lagers and cider on tap, including Baldock Pride, brewed for us with a subtle hoppy character.
- A huge enclosed garden
- Room to spread out behind the High Street, fully enclosed, with plenty of tables in the sun and the shade.
- Dogs genuinely welcome
- Well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar and the gardens. Water bowls are out by the door.
- Thai food out the back
- Nick's Thai Kitchen serves Tuesday to Sunday, eat in the pub or take it away.
