Real ale in Baldock

Cask ale, kept and poured with care

The White Lion has been pouring pints on Baldock High Street since at least 1839, and real ale is still at the heart of the bar. A rotating selection of cask ales sits alongside favourite lagers and cider, so whether you know exactly what you want or fancy trying something new, there is always a pint to suit.

Ask at the bar about what is on today. The line up changes, and the team are always happy to talk you through it.

Our own ale

Baldock Pride, brewed for the White Lion

Baldock Pride is our specially brewed ale, with a subtle hoppy character that makes it an easy first pint and a satisfying last one. It is named for the town and poured right in the middle of it.

If you are visiting Baldock for the first time, this is the pint locals will point you towards.

Wine and spirits

A back bar worth a second look

Beyond the pumps there is a comprehensive choice of wines, gins, rums and whiskies. It makes the White Lion as good for a glass of wine with friends as it is for a long evening of real ale.

In the summer the bar spills out into the garden with festivals dedicated to beer, gin and rum.
