Our story
On the High Street since at least 1839
Bursting with character, the White Lion sits proudly in the middle of Baldock High Street, as it has for generations.
1839
John Little, first recorded publican
The White Lion has been here since at least 1839, the year John Little was recorded as its first publican. Since then it has poured pints for the town through every chapter of the High Street.
Today it is still a traditional pub: great beers including our own Baldock Pride, a huge enclosed beer garden, Nick's Thai Kitchen and well behaved dogs welcome.
It is also a place the town gathers. The monthly quiz, live music, summer festivals and Balstock every other year keep the White Lion the pride of Baldock.

Since 1839
John Little, the first recorded publican
The first publican on record at the White Lion was John Little, in 1839. Since then the pub has stood on Baldock High Street through every chapter of the town's life.
Look around the bar and you will see the history in the beams, the fireplace and the old rooms that generations of Baldock drinkers have called their local.

Still a local
A traditional pub that still feels like home
Today the White Lion is still a traditional town centre pub: real ale on the bar, our own Baldock Pride, Thai food from Nick's Thai Kitchen and a huge garden out the back. Dogs are welcome, and so is everyone else.
